The WHY Academy
Growing whole healthy youth, from the inside out.
Begin with WHY.
Education through discovery, experience and practice is
our method.
"Health is an inside job, and our inner knowing is the key. We help youth unlock their inner wisdom with a full spectrum of tools and strategies we have developed through decades of study and practice as educators and health professionals.
At the WHY Academy, we strive to create products and solutions to support youth to take care of themselves and nurture whole health as an essential life skill. That means nurturing the caregivers, and supporting the teachers and coaches too. No stone unturned, we are here for it all.

Kristine Divall
MEd, Certified Yoga Instructor + Yoga Teacher Trainer
I am an educator, yoga teacher, consultant and coach living on the unceded territories of the Secwépemc and Ktunaxa peoples, Golden BC.
I hold a Masters in Education, and during my career have worked both as a teacher and alongside schools through the non-profit sector.
In 2008 I co-founded Vinyasa Yoga for Youth, a non profit that integrates the practices of Yoga and Mindfulness into schools. I lead multiple yoga teacher training each year that bring yoga to communities furthest from opportunity.
It is my belief that true personal wellness comes from approaching health holistically and incorporating a variety of tools for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
I spend a lot of time in nature, breathing in the beauty of the natural world, and when possible I love to do these things in community and with children.
Julie Brown
BSc (Kinesiology), Osteopathic Practitioner
When I was 18 I realized the only thing that is really mine, is me. My body, mind and spirit.
I studied physics, physiology and psychology. I poured myself into anatomy. I researched behaviour, learning and trauma. I carry big questions and small questions, and a curiosity that drives me.
I have worked in brain injury rehab, with elite athletes, the very young, the very old and the very sick – in hospitals, homes and my private osteopathic practice.
I live with the principles of Osteopathy, and the laws of nature. They weave together and help me make sense of the world.
Telling the story of the body, how it works and how it heals from injury and disease is a feature project in my life's work. Inspiring people to discover their inner health, and to transform is my 'why'.
The WHY Academy is about telling this story to our youth, to help them build a lifetime of whole health.
